Web scraping and search inside the Cursor agent
Capabilities
What the plugin exposes in Cursor
The plugin ships the Olostep MCP server and pairs it with Cursor’s agent: scrape pages, search, batch URLs, crawl sites, map links, and request grounded AI answers without leaving the IDE.
Install from the Cursor Directory with Add to Cursor, with no manual npx wiring for the default flow.
MCP tools match our public API: one mental model from dashboard keys to agent calls.
Full browser rendering and infrastructure for JavaScript-heavy sites and difficult targets.
Free tier credits on the Olostep dashboard, try real scrapes before scaling.
Turn any URL into Markdown, HTML, JSON, or plain text, ideal for docs, issues, and pages that need JavaScript execution.
View in docsStructured search results for research, comparisons, and grounding answers on current information.
View in docsAsk natural-language questions with citations from live web context, useful for briefs and verification.
View in docsSubmit large URL lists in one job and process them in parallel for ingestion and enrichment pipelines.
View in docsFollow links from a start URL to scrape multi-page sites such as documentation or blogs.
View in docsDiscover URLs across a domain before you crawl or batch; plan routes and filter scope.
View in docsTool names and parameters align with the Olostep MCP server documentation and the plugin README on GitHub.
Setup
Directory install, API key, first run
Use the official plugin listing so Cursor bundles the MCP server and onboarding. You’ll paste your Olostep API key during install; after that, web tools are available to the agent like any other MCP integration.

Go to the Olostep plugin page on the Cursor Directory. Confirm you’re on the official Olostep listing before you install.
Olostep on the Cursor Directory
Use Add to Cursor to start installation from the listing. Cursor will walk through the plugin flow and prepare the bundled Olostep MCP server for your workspace.
Add to Cursor directly from here
When prompted, paste your Olostep API key from olostep.com/dashboard and continue through Install. If you see a red warning or alert during this step, it is a generic Cursor notice; unless install explicitly fails, you can continue; your key is used to authenticate the Olostep MCP server.
Get your API key from the Olostep dashboard
Open Cursor chat or the agent, describe what you need (scrape a URL, search the web, map a site, start a crawl, or run a batch), and confirm the Olostep tools appear in the tool list. You’re on the same API as our docs; tune formats and options from tool parameters.

Use cases
What developers run with Olostep in Cursor
From debugging with live issues to ingesting docs; patterns that fit agent-first development in the editor.
Scrape GitHub issues, forums, or changelogs so the agent cites real threads instead of guessing error text.
Crawl or map documentation sites, pull Markdown into chat, and keep answers aligned with the current published version.
Search and scrape breaking-change notes across vendors, then let the agent plan refactors against fresh content.
Scrape pages to JSON or typed fields for fixtures, tests, and codegen, without maintaining one-off scrapers per site.
